I can't be the only one here playing this.

The combat and landscapes in the demo really threw me off, but I haven't been able to put this game down since it was released. The character development is actually fairly deep and well-paced, even if their reasons for joining you seem somewhat arbitrary and their reasons for staying seem irrelevant at first.

And, surprisingly, I'm not too annoyed with combat. The selection of talent trees can make for some pretty potent combinations - although Mages are horribly OP, as usual.

Nnng...I want so badly...

I made the mistake of using my monthly budget for fun tiemz pre-ordering Portal 2 in blind excitement... I realized too late that, yeah, it comes out in late APRIL. Sigh.

More or less, I find that DA2 is improved in almost every way over the first. Most notably the relationships that the companions have with each other.

What does bother me is how little my choices can affect the storyline, namely when lily killer kidnaps your mother in act 2. none of the decisions you made in the previous missions changes her fate, even though it really felt like they should have

I also find the ability distribution to be much more confusing now.

Honestly, not really liking it, like most of the other BW/EA games. The areas seem too cut/paste, there's even less enemy variety then in origins, and playing it just began feeling like a chore. Probably not playing it a second time.

The areas are pretty cut and paste. They did a good job on the few areas they created - they're pretty, for the most part, and somewhat unique. But then it's the same area, over and over. Reused. They bumped up the release date, though. If they had more time, I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, say they'd have created a few more maps - but their track record for unique areas is pretty damn slim. It's not a HUGE minus for me, though, but it certainly detracts from the atmosphere of the game.

As for the enemies, the variety isn't huge, and some fights can get super tedious. I'd say, though, that the variety of enemies is technically acceptable, given the DA universe. You've got some darkspawn, your typical mercs running around, mage abominations, etc etc. They're not really expanding in that sense, but sticking to what they've got. Which isn't a whole lot, in retrospect, but it hasn't bugged me a great deal.

I really look forward to running over "conversation points" on the map. Have you taken Varric and Daisy out often, or Anders and Fenris? It makes me wish I had taken Bethany out more often before she was taken. I missed quite a bit of interaction there.

You romancing anyone specific your first time 'round?

And, whoops, haven't played that bit yet. I'll just have to see what you mean when I get to it.

Whoops. As long as you got Portal 2 later, I'd change that for you, if I could. Depending on exactly what you look for in games, you're missing out. But I wouldn't fret too much. By the time you can afford it, they might have worked over some of the major bugs I've heard of/experienced.

I'm slowpoking the fuck out and just realized Fenris is Balthier from Final Fantasy XII. I fucking loved Balthier there. And Sten was Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing. Holy shit.

I was pretty surprised when I realized where I recognized femHawke's voice from.
