Chi and I just finished this game yesterday and my concluding opinion is MORE PEOPLE NEED TO PLAY IT

For anyone who hasn't heard of it yet: It's an adventure mystery game by Shu Takumi, the man responsible for the Phoenix Wright games. You take the role of Sissel who just now lost his memory and his life on a scrapyard. But being dead has one advantage - Sissel gains special powers that allow him to investigate his own mystery and save the lives of others to gain info.

The basic idea is that you can interact with objects and manipulate them to change fate and save people's lives. The puzzles are fun, varied and fair - Just some trial and error parts here and there.
The graphic and the music are stylish and wonderful; the music is done by Sugimori Masakazu who brought us the soundtrack for the first Phoenix Wright game. The animation has a lot of care put into it.

The less I say about the plot, the better, because any spoilers would just take away from the experience. I can just say it's of a quality you'd expect from the creator of Phoenix Wright. The plot is dense, the characters are great and you find yourself attached to them quicker than you can imagine.

So if you like Phoenix Wright, mystery or hell, just have some time to spend, PLAY IT
You will not be disappointed.

I agree with you completely there, Anon.

A lot of people gave it bad reviews, but honestly, I jizzed over the animation/story and want to buy it for those alone. (A friend and I agreed that all the technical prowess for a console comes out at its death, like the FMV's in Kingdom Hearts: CoM, and Ghost Trick's fluid movements/Pokemon B&W's graphics.) I haven't been able to find a copy of any of the PW games, but I hope the next one incorporates the Ghost Trick style of animation.

Bad reviews? Where? From what I've seen people recommend it left and right, especially because of the interesting visuals and fun plot.

Game Informer and some online mag gave it something like a 6/10 for the gameplay.

Bought this game yesterday and loved every second of it. I want more games from Shu Takumi and have 'em be rolled over to the US. It makes me burn with rage that we will not get AAI-2 after playing this game.

Can't remember how involved Shu was involved in Ace Attorney Investigations, but I think I remember him not being that involved with planning/script writing and I think it showed. I gotta admit I didn't enjoy AA:I when I played it (dat jazzy music, gah D:<), and I think I'm not a minority in the fandom for saying that it wasn't as enthralling as the other Ace Attorney games; hence it didn't get the word-of-mouth it needed to generate sales.

However, since it was the first of the series to branch out in another direction, it could've been off to a rough start & maybe the 2nd one will leave a better impression. For all I know, whatever beef I had with AA:I will have been fixed better in the 2nd installment, which I'll never get to see because it's not going to localized at all. Capcom released a game that was kinda annoying (to me) & and is all like "welp, statistics say Americans don't like Ace Attorney anymore; let's not investigate any further and leave it at that (besides, it's not like WE could be the problem. Everything we make is great)."

Dang Japanese marketing techniques.... ;_;

Also, remember to comment on this link: http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2010/10/19/professor_layton_vs_ace_attorney_announced_for_japan

There are no current plans to localize Prof. Layton Vs Ace Attorney other than what they receive in the comments. Make some noise.

All the love for the game makes me happy. Spread the word, guys! So Capcom sees we love Shu Takumi's games and stops playing with our hearts!
