Did Endermen scare anyone too? After a few duds that didn't attack me, one finally did after I stared at it. Jesus- I just didn't expect them to run that fast.

Also: does anyone know an effective docking system? Using half-blocks causes the boat to collapse into sticks and wood now, so I'd really like to know a good way to dock a boat considering I live on a fucking island on one server.

has anyone had any trouble using the minecraft pre-release?

Tried installing it, and the game runs, but whenever i try to make a new world, the game closes. I can get on my old ones just fine, but cannot start new ones

I have re-installed minecraft twice already, but it still crashes

I finally bought this game, and as silly and stupid as this sounds, it is SCARY as much as it is fun.

And I play on peaceful mode.

The reasons are these: The eerie wind or ominous ambient noise that pops up at random while I'm in a dark cave or bottom of a ravine, I get claustrophobic when I am lost in a cave and start building stairs to get to the surface, the fact I frequently mistake the sugar cane near my house for creepers (then proceed to headdesk as I remember I'm on peaceful mode) and that I fell in lava while going after diamonds and spanwed in the middle of freakin' nowhere, completely unfamiliar with the land. This is all probably because I'm easily spooked, and is rather sad because I'm almost 21.

Otherwise the game is awesome: I have since started familiarizing myself with the world around me, I have a diamond helmet and pickaxe, a quaint little hut on an island surrounded by lots of squid, and a sheep pit behind it. I will switch to easy mode the next time I play, and work my way up to normal from there.

Can anybody give me advice on how to not be so... cowardly while playing? Because I'd love to see some endermen and get some pearls.

basically you will get used to it. I have a server I go on that is easy-survival. at first I hated it,but I grew to actually like it.
Protip:sleep as soon as the sun sets so creepers don't spawn.

I found a wolf for the first time yesterday. I was so excited because i had like 13 bones with me and my sword had just run out, so this was going to be perfect! He could protect me in my way to find my home since i hadn't had a map!(I was lost because my friend decided to drag me into a portal to the nether and we spawned in another portal to the nether in the side of a cliff, no idea where we were)My friend had just died and respawned in the house, and hadn't come to look for me, so i was kind of going solo. SO I tame the wolf and begin walking around, looking for familiar landmarks, when wouldn't you know it i hear "FFFTSSSSSSSSSS" behind me and my wolf and I are gone.
all 72 pieces of raw beef i had collected and my one and only wolf.
gone.
And i was pissed.

I've started setting up beacons around the world to point me back home after I got lost. They come in handy, I try to make them tall enough to see from far away, which is hard in forests.

Wish Endermen were more common though.

They make installing mods for this game painfully difficult in my opinion.

i've become bored with the technic pack. im not sure theres much more to be gained after building a set-up like this. i feel like i've "won" it

lolololol... The Minecraft server's down...and someone else was given our old IP and port. I've been on this random server for weeks thinking it was ours, and last night the server admin happened to get on at the same time as me and goes, "Who the fuck are you?"

Oh man. If this weren't so funny, it'd be really sad.

ugh,okay,does anyone have the Technic pack installed and rubber trees won't grow or produce resin to ones you /do/ find? any idea how to fix this?
