A friend of mine from out of town dropped by and asked to play some TF2 (he plays pretty often to), well when he left all my TF2 settings were all changed and weird, mouse sensitivity, crosshairs, and even the weapons I'm holding suddenly got all tiny and distant. I'd like to set everything back to default but I'm not sure what the defaults were in the first place? I uninstalled TF2 and tried to reinstall it but everything is still all crazy. I cant call him because he's on a plane right now

Go to options and adv. options from main screen.
In advanced options you'll find a scroll for "model field of view" which makes the weapons look "all tiny and distant", when you turn it left, the model is bigger, and when its turned in far right, the model is smaller and the hands are more visible for the current class while holding the weapons. on options -> multiplayer section you will find the crosshair selection, if you use the normal crosshair, take the top one on the list, you can try different crosshairs if you like, it isnt really hard, you must just read the instructions for every button and setting

I figure this would be a good a spot as any to ask this.

What are the best settings for TF2? Ive been playing since February of this year, but I havent messed with the settings much aside from chaning resolution and making it so I switch weapons with the scrolly wheel. Otherwise, Im not entirely sure. I play fine with what Ive got, but was wondering if it could be improved.

Mouse sensitivity is always really important, so fiddle with it and see if it does you any better. Also, having the hit sound play when you hit an enemy and having the number pop up to tell you how much damage you've done are a great help.

Apologizes for having such a stupid question, but I think it is quite in topic and I'll post it here.
Basically, I've noticed recently that the game chat in the servers doesn't notify me when an item drops to a player (or when said items are crafted, traded, renamed and many other things), even when the player in subject is me, so I don't get notified when I get an item drop; I can only discover it later when I open the backpack.
My question is: is this problem caused by an option/setting somewhere in the game that I changed without noticing, or was this system implemented in the game with a newer update or stuff like that? Because it's kinda annoying not being notified, and I'd like to fix this.

You might have disabled notifications.

Oh, how do I enable them?

Have you tried setting -autoconfig in the launch options?
