Yeah, I am majorly into octopi (and squid) anyway, so I enjoyed adding in the hectocotylus, the difference in blood coloration, the colour/texture change occurring during pre-mating activity (as abruptly cut-off as it may have been...) (Though I will probably stop short of the snap-off-and-regrow-every-season hectocotylus that some species have... that might be too traumatic for everyone involved...) I figure Sniper might take it better than Spy... I don't know, I see him as having a fairly high tolerance for things that squick others, whereas Spy is going through both 'giant sea monsters are icky' and 'holy crap my body is completely different'. I'm spending a lot of time picturing him fishing for pacific red octopus now, though... one of the thousands of different animals he could have realistically hunted at some point in his life, I guess.
