I honestly don't consider this a "rape fic". To me, rapefic dwells almost fetishistically on the act of rape itself, either as horror or titillation. In this story, while the rape of Carol is a significant part of the psychological landscape, it is not the point of the thing. It is what came before and what comes after. Lead-up and consequences. I think that is what makes it different.
