I finally checked this out and don't regret it at all! I love it so hard words cannot describe!

Just found out there's going to be an animated adaptation of the Fate/Zero novels by motherfucking Ufotable and I. Jizzed. In. My. Pants.

Didn't think much of anything Type Moon at first, but I gave Fate/Stay Night a chance and actually it turned out to be quite good, far lot less weeaboo and moefaggy than I was afraid it would be. I advise others to try it out for the world-building aspects at least.

This series went from "cute magical girls doing cute magical things" to "holy fucking balls this is depressing" really fast.

And I love it.

I couldn't agree more. Somebody on Wakachan posted one of those "Upcoming shows" charts back in december and not a damn one looked the least bit interesting. Madoka is a Nanoha ripoff, Nyaruko is so bad it might as well have a laugh track, and Dragon Crisis and Kore wa Zombie are harem shows and thus aren't worth watching.

They would be showing a LOT more blood and gore if they were going for the Elfin Leid "edgy" route. It's a deconstruction of the magical girl genre. It's showing what a magical girl series would be like if it was more realistic, where choices actually have consequences and bad evil monsters have no qualms about going right for the throat. It's actually attempting to do something different with the genre.

And even if Madoka is trying for the "edgy" route, then that would make it completely different from Nanoha, which did NOTHING new apart from flashier action scenes.

It kinda pisses me off how all thise chapters of Kaiji are not scanlated and/or impossible to find. Luckily, the anime more than covers that gap; apparently, it's better at covering that swatch of the story, anyway.

She didn't solve the issue of "bad things" in the world because she realized that they're always going to exist no matter what she does. Utena was more of a "graduated to adulthood" kind of metaphor, while Madoka was quite a bit more literal.

Fuck the haters. I fucking loved the ending and couldn't have asked for anything better, especially with how it managed to set itself up for a sequel. It managed a deux ex machina ending that actually made sense, worked with the plot, and wasn't pulled out of the ass at the last minute (I'm looking at you, Mai-Hime).
